Equinoxes restores, in integral form, the flute world of Sigfrid Karg-Elert, a composer renowned in conservatoire training yet far less encountered in the fullness of his discographic presence. Between the 30 Caprices, the Sonata Appassionata, the Sinfonische Kanzone and the cycles Impressions exotiques and Suite pointillistique, there emerges a language of striking modernity: fractured, mutable, chromatic, fevered, suspended between Jugendstil, symbolism and formal freedom. The project is innovative precisely in this comprehensive vision, which frees Karg-Elert from a merely pedagogical role and restores him as a true poet of timbre, breath and expressive instability, with his full historical stature intact and with a voice startlingly close to modern sensibility.
