Trip Wave
This is a collection of psychedelic/progressive music from Russia, organized chronologically, over a 20 year period to highlight the best of the country's offerings in these genres. Many of the tracks were previously unreleased or difficult to find versions of celebrated tracks of the past. The album is a great instrumental adventure with some vocals in Russian. It is full of wildly different sounds that provide a contrast between what has been traditionally delivered from a Western European or North American perspective in either of the progressive or psychedelic genres. Available as a collectors edition CD featuring an enhanced sound quality, this is sure to be a prized possession for connoisseurs of unconventional music anywhere. The subtitle of this collection reveals already how there is some kind of fitting well together amount of bands in Russia who have some root in psychedelia. The main title "Trip Wave" in facts describes it a bit in what sense or direction. Almost any of these of these bands show aspects of a late night trippy trance-related jammed way of playing, with all the time of the world , while their roots are related or rooted in post-rock song styles, an alternative wave of shoegazed rock.
