It's All Connected Somehow - Soul
Collecting records is a complex undertaking. A structure built without any real logic, other than an unrestrained passion for all kinds of music, regardless of style, era, or origin. If it makes your body, your mind, or both vibrate, then it earns a place on the shelf, where thousands of vinyl specimens cross paths and communicate with one another. Others are so diametrically opposed that they don't even know each other exists. Or so they think. Because the collector is the point where it all comes together. The one who knows why they're there, and who even remembers the precise circumstances in which each record was bought. When, in 2004, Laurent Garnier decided to launch his web radio station PBB (Pedro's Broadcasting Basement), he had just one source of material to draw from: his own record collection. When a musician establishes themselves, it can sometimes be difficult to see them beyond the category they belong to. Associated with techno, Laurent Garnier, however, has never stopped doing what he started in his teens, perhaps even earlier: digging into funk, rock, soul, electro, jazz, disco, Eastern flavors, South American sweetness, African spices There simply isn't enough room to list it all.
