Slowey And The Boats
Slowey ...after Dark (clear Saltwater)
Midnight melodies from the edge of paradise. On LP5, acclaimed Philadelphia quintet blends Hawaiian steel guitar with the elegance and allure of after-hours jazz. After the sun sets on the City of Brotherly love, an incongruous but alluring sound can be heard through the front door of an old pub on the corner of Cresson and Dawson Streets. A regular crowd has come here in the gloaming to sail the musical seas with a band known as Slowey and the Boats. This corner bar is a small eddy along the river of time. The din of the crowd mixes with the sound of the band, conjuring a different time, island breezes, and tropical nights filled with promise. These melodies and the musical language employed here have traveled long distances. Like the light from a distant star in the night sky, they radiate out into the darkness like a beacon existing entirely outside of time. For the regulars at Dawson Street Pub and music lovers everywhere Hi-Tide Recordings proudly presents this tribute to the night - "Slowey...After Dark".
