Giovanni Morandi: Complete Organ Works Vol. 10
The tenth volume of the first complete recording of Giovanni Morandis organ works recreates a nineteenth-century Italy in which altar, theatre, public square and monastery share one breath. Marches for Pius IX, Christmas pastorales, liturgical sonatas, divertimenti and band-derived funeral marches reveal the organ as an orchestra compressed within pipes and a little sacred theatre. Manuscript pages preserved at the Monastery of Santa Maria Maddalena in Serra de Conti deepen the documentary scope, linking printed circulation with local practice. Arrangements of Vive Henri Quatre and Mayrs Adelasia ed Aleramo complete the portrait of Morandi as a mediator of repertories. The 1760/1797 Callido organ gives this historical crossroads a voice consonant with the sonic world of the collections.
