Pierron, Gerard
Chante Vigne, Chante Vin
GErard Pierron is a rare figure in the french chanson world, and he made a name for himself setting the popular poetry of the Loire Valley to music, notably works by Gaston CoutE, the libertarian peasant poet. Pierron is a meticulous artisan, and his entire writings constitute a work of balance and precision. This disc is the result of an encounter between two lovers of wine and the terroir. FranCois des Ligneris, the famous "inn keeper/ winegrower" from Saint-Emilion, decided to produce a CD devoted to the world of wine, and he entrusted GErard Pierron with the project. Both spent two years working on this album, and the result is one of the most beautiful tributes ever made to the fruits of the vine, echoing the most beautiful part of intoxication: the desires to be alive and to share. Hailed by critics, this album was awarded the Charles Cros Prize in year 2000. Augustin BONDOUX & Patrick FREMEAUX
