Manual Breather

NECKLACE formed in Johannesburg, the city that promised gold. What's left is the dirt of that excavation. To live there entails a love affair with what is broken and corrupted. It is through these contradictions that NECKLACE channels their sound. SUICIDE, STOOGES, and VELVET UNDERGROUND appear to have made their way down to Africa and into that sound. Slovenly saw NECKLACE play at the TWENTY ONE CHILDREN house in Soweto last year. On stage, between the band's four members, there's a very compelling mix of energy, joy, rage, passion, and artistic release. They enjoyed every second of it as did we and the recordings we asked them to send us are "Manual Breather".
