One of Jazz Music's greatest musicians & composers. Major innovator and architect of both the Be-Bop and Avant-Garde/Free Jazz movements. In addition to his own recordings, he worked with Louis Armstrong, Lionel Hampton, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis and Joanie Mitchell. Recorded prolifically and has been a huge influence on all improvisational to this day Died of Lou Gerhig's disease in 1979.
