Malad
Malad (red)
"MALAD" is the simple name of the debut album by "Malad" from the Netherlands. Founded in 2019 by Jane and Jordy, the pandemic not only famously led to a number of line-up changes and departures for "Malad". In April 2022, Jane, Jordy and Tim began recording the album at Impact Audio in Berlin without a bass player. They quickly found a bassist for the recordings in Sucker, ex-singer and mastermind behind "Oxymoron" and "Bad Co. Projekt", who also ended up acting as co-producer. One and a half years and several kilometers of track later, the recordings are complete and the result is twelve energetic songs that don't really fit into any of the usual categories. But who cares about pigeonholes when you get angry guitar music that only fits the adjective "authentic" 100%. Pigeonholes also don't fit the band's intention of acting as a kind of musical link for all subcultures. In the song "Underdog", where you can clearly hear the band's Oi influences, this desire for more respect and cohesion among the various subcultures is taken up and articulated.
