Lunch, Lydia
Marchesa
New York's no-wave icon LYDIA LUNCH is back with a new album! With "Marchesa", the American all-round artist pays homage to the Marquis De Sade, who was an inspiration for all LUNCH's artistic work As one of the central figures of the New York No Wave scene, LYDIA LUNCH has solo albums and collaborations with THURSTON MOORE (SONIC YOUTH), THE BIRTHDAY PARTY, IMMIGRANT NEWBORN, JIM THIRLWELL, with her band TEENAGE JESUS AND THE JERKS (which also includes JAMES CHANCE) / FOETUS or HENRY ROLLINS. In the last years, the singer, actress, spoken word artist and author is extremely active again: along with her band BIG SEXY NOISE with guitarist JAMES JOHNSTON (GALLON DRUNK, ex-NICK CAVE), drummer IAN WHITE (GALLON DRUNK) and TERRY EDWARDS on keyboards and saxophone (TOM WAITS, PJ HARVEY, SPIRITUALIZED) and other projects, LYDIA LUNCH has collaborations with French electronics specialist PHILIPPE PETIT and blues / country guitarist CYPRESS GROVE. Her new album "Marchesa" pays homage to the Marquis De Sade, whose writings and thoughts have always been a great inspiration to LUNCH. Together with STEFANO ROSSELLO (BAHNTIER, KETVECTOR), the artist creates a depressingly atmospheric framework of dissonant sound spheres, distortion and noise elements. "Marchesa" is perhaps one of LUNCH's most disturbing works of recent years.
