Lawson, Davie
Konichiwa
Raw, heartfelt performances, prosaic lyrics and a naive and unrehearsed young talent thrown in front of a microphone for the 1st time ever. It could have gone wrong but it didnt. This debut has a great back story. Lawson was playing his first ever gig a tiny caf in the Netherlands when he was spotted by studio & label owner Dan Tuffy. The coffee-machine and the din of an unruly, disinterested crowd was drowning the young singer out. Nobody was listening, but the singer kept launching from one absolute gem of a song into the other. Dan was intrigued enough to invite him in for a test recording. What they heard coming back at them through the monitors that day blew them both away and ended up forming the core of this album. A simply mind-blowing debut for a kid with so little experience. Listen and you will agree.
