Guelewar Band Of Banjul

At last, here's a reissue of the third album by the Guelewar Band Of Banjul, a group that presented a new approach to the traditional Sene-Gambian music, known today as the Afro-Manding-Sound. The album was first released by the French Discafrique label in 1981. An explosive mix of soul and funk with local rhythms like Boogaraboo and Ndaga combined with a defiant insistence on singing in their local language Wolof. They certainly blew a young Youssou N'dour away as he cites them as his biggest influence.
