Camillo Felgen was born on November 17, 1920, in Tetingen, Luxembourg. After working as a primary school teacher, translator, and reporter, he was hired by Radio Luxembourg in 1946 as a speaker and singer. Alongside this, he pursued studies in acting and singing. In 1951, he had his first record success with "Bonjour les amis." In 1953, he released his first German-language record, "Onkel Toms altes Boot" (Uncle Tom's Old Boat). His duet "Das letzte Wort" (The Last Word) with Barbara Kist was his first chart success in Germany, reaching number 21 in October 1954. In 1959, Camillo Felgen achieved his biggest hit in Germany: "Sag warum" (Tell Me Why), which reached number 16. Another major success was his song "Ich hab' Ehrfurcht vor schneeweißen Haaren" (I Have Reverence for Snow-White Hair). Camillo Felgen was also very successful as a lyricist. Under the pseudonym Jean Nicolas, he wrote the lyrics to more than 2,000 songs. He also participated in the Eurovision Song Contest several times. His song "Petit Bonhomme" came in third place in Luxembourg in 1962. From 1965 to 1973, he hosted the television program "Spiel ohne Grenzen" (Games Without Borders) for WDR. Camillo Felgen died on July 16, 2005, in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg.
