Milord
Corry Brokken was born on December 3, 1932, in Breda. After training as a dental assistant, she toured the Netherlands with the John Kristel Orchestra. The Belgian label Ronnex gave her her first record deal in 1954. In 1956, Corry Brokken represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Voorgoed voorbij," which, although it didn't win, was still a great success. In 1957, she won the Eurovision Song Contest in Frankfurt with "Net als toen." In the following years, she released several singles in German and Dutch, as well as an album in English, which was initially not released. In 1960, she had a major hit with the German and Dutch versions of the song "Milord." She had further hits in Germany with "Er sah aus wie ein Lord" and "La Mamma," and in the Netherlands with "Mijn ideaal." From 1967 to 1970, she hosted the television program "Varietézauber" on WDR. In the mid-1970s, Corry Brokken ended her singing career to study law and subsequently work as a judge. She died on May 31, 2016, in Laren, North Holland.
