Church Of Confidence
(s)hit Explosion
With their eighth studio album, the Berlin trio, often described by journalists as "Germany's most underrated punk rock band", present a cover album that has it all. In the classic "K-Tel" guise, 12 hits from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s are delivered here. But not in the usual, "we'll just play everything twice as fast and hard" sound, no, here they really dug deep into their musical bag of tricks. The "Rubettes" come in the guise of the "Ramones", "Slade" in the sound of the "Stranglers" and "Jimi Hendrix" even as a genuine Southern Rock number a la "Lynyrd Skynyrd". Produced by Uli Confidence, the mastermind of the band and operator of the Berlin cult club "Wild At Heart" in his own studio, this album is an uninhibited celebration of everything from classic rock'n'roll to 70s rock, glam and even new wave that is dear and sacred to the Church of Confidence.
