The band has spent over two decades crafting the sound of the dark underground - sweeping synthpop melodies, haunting vocals, and lyrics that move between longing, darkness, and something hope-like. New single "Schwarzer Engel" arrives in a CD edition that proves a great song can be heard in more than one light. The original version does exactly what Blutengel does best: atmospheric, emotionally charged dark electronics with an irresistible, catchy melodic pull. The three additional versions on this CD turn it into a full sonic experience: US darkwave/EBM duo ghostbells, whose music fuses icy synths, pulsing basslines, reverb-soaked guitars, and melancholic melodies, bring their club-floor instincts to the mix. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the Erdling Piano Cover strips the track down to its beautifully dark emotional core. The Destroy Me Again Remix, courtesy of dark pop act Destroy Me Again, rounds out the package with their signature blend of driving beats and atmospheric hooks.
