Angst, Fred
Stockholmsyndroom (green)
Fred Angst (guitarist with Aroma Di Amore) with his first solo album. For this album he collaborated with a whole host of guests, both established names and up-and-coming young talent. Marcel Vanthilt (Arbeid Adelt), Sietse Willems (Meltheads), Jonathan Vervaeck (Geitenvel/Bonakar), Bart Timmermans (Kregel, Vandal X, Flipo Mancini), Nel Mertens (Nel & JP) and Janis Van Coppenolle (Nimbus Cart) lent their voices to the songs, but ex-companion Elvis Peeters can also be heard on one of the tracks. Musically, he was further supported by Philippe Gunst (Fragment) and JP De Brabander (Looplizard, Delavega) on guitar, Butsenzeller (A Clean Kitchen Is A Happy Kitchen, Stovepipe, Zool., Scoundrels) on drums, Roos Janssens (Capsule, De Kift, WOO) on sax, and Lo Meulen (Aroma Di Amore, PeetersMeulen) on bass. In terms of content, Angst follows the same vein as his former band Aroma Di Amore. Stockholm Syndrome has become a thematic record about today's society: 2025 seems to have become Orwell's 1984. Everything is reversed: war is peace, slavery is freedom, ignorance is strength, hate is love. This newspeak is the language of our world leaders, psychopaths serving the wealthy elite. And the people submit to, or worse, even idolize, these leaders and their policies, of which they themselves are the greatest victims. Musically, Angst goes one step further on the path taken by Aroma Di Amore: idiosyncratic, sharp post-wave, with the sound of today, but also with a strong nod to the 80s. -Recycled soft green coloured vinyl - run of 300 -
