ZATH is metal for those who have become disenchanted by the continuous degradation of the genre in the last two decades. This is the timeless sound of pushing boundaries and thrashing bodies. ZATH is the future of the past. ZATH eschews standard song formulas. There are no choruses or singalongs. There are no guitar solos. Each song tempers unusual time signature changes with pure aggression. The counterpoise of discipline and chaos is founded in band members' musical backgrounds. ZATH is Zack Weil of CACAW, Seth Sher of GA'AN, and Dan Browning of CAVE. Each member draws on prior experience to create something new out the familiar. If the intensity reflects their unswerving commitment to rock, then the sheer complexity is a culmination of the strongest aspects of their previous and concurrent bands. Metal revivalists have attempted to capture and modernize the sound, and retro enthusiasts have grappled with authenticity, but these approaches are marred by their reliance on tricks from the '90s that diluted and degraded the genre. Without attempting to sound classic or modern, ZATH write songs like thrash pioneers. The sound of ZATH combines the full-on fury of unadulterated speed with the grooving pulse of '70s progressive rock, dispensing with the macho bravado and gimmickry.
