A Question An Answer
Stefano Zanobini, first viola of the Orchestra della Toscana and co-founder of the Ensemble Arlaune has by now a reputation as an all-round thinker musician. Among his long-term projects with Novantiqua are 'Musica & Regime' and 'Tuscania', both of which have been very well received by critics and the public and have won several awards. This concept album 'A Question an Answer' is a media book that connects the music of the mysterious 17th century English soldier/musician Tobias Hume with the photographs of the Finnish photographer Ari Jaaksi in a dialogue that reflects on the cardinal points of existence. It is a work with extremely personal and peculiar traits, as Zanobini performs Hume's music, originally written for Viola da Gamba, on the viola d'amore, Jaaksi's photographs are associated with an extremely symbolist textual, musical and visual journey, the links between sound, image, story and word are taken to semantic extremes. In the media book, all this is explained and explored in great detail and information.
