Wolfoni
North Coast Killers
Recorded in three days, the WOLFONIs new album is a sound picture of what the band shows on stage: music based on rockabilly but rich by bues-rock influences. If Clment Palant, the drummer, sing the famous " Riot ln Cell Block#9" created by the coasters in the 50s and dynamited by Dr Feelgood 25 years later, Gil Riot, the guitar player, raises his voice on rockn rolls songs made by the band : " I Won't Cry Over It", et" My Shoes and Me . He also sings some timeless classics from the 40s, 50s and 80s : Delmore Brothers (Blues Stay Away From Me), Charlie Rich (Lonely Weekends) passing by the great British band : Restless (Ice Cold). Then he spices up the album with a twangy instrumental of his own : Mandrake . Mister Tof, the double-bass player, proves that the real good stuff is intemporal by interpreting rockn roll pieces covering many decades: "Primitive" from The Groupies, "Devil and Miss Jones" from Mike Ness, the astonishing " Tornado" from The Jiants and also " Makin' Monsters For My Friends" from the Ramones, passed through the WOLFONIs meat grinder. The rhythmic, formed by energic and oaky drums, coupled with a swinging and generous doublebass, supports in a beautiful way an electric guitar feed by pioneers syrup, heir of a rockers holy lineage, from Carl Perkins to Link Wray. The three musicians of WOLFONI, Brittanys North Coast kind-a-pirates, provide a disc that lookslike themselves : Rocker, bawler, nervous and dancy.
