Pucciniana
Pucciniana submits Puccini to the test of transcription: theatre changes medium without losing its dramatic breath. Instrumental miniatures, from Pezzo per pianoforte to Crisantemi, and intermezzi and arias from Manon Lescaut, La Bohème, Gianni Schicchi and Turandot, are reworked for guitar duo and for guitar with mandolin. Without orchestra or voices, the writing exposes its harmonic skeleton, phrasing and grammar of expectation. At the centre stands Gaia Aloisis commissioned Vedrem levarsi., which reimagines Madama Butterfly through fragments and vocal gestures entrusted to memory rather than direct quotation. The result is an innovative project in which transcription becomes at once transmission, analysis and reinvention, revealing the chamber dimension latent within Puccinis theatre.
