Veil Of Mist
Disenchantment
Veil of Mist was founded in October 2004 in Reims (North-Eastern France). After a few line-up changes and now in 2016, the band earlier this year, released this, their first cd proper, although they have previously released 2 demo cds. Fronted by Amandine Rosselle, they ply their trade by way of Melodic, Dark, Progressive Metal and rather good it is too. Fan kicks things off, a six minute melodic blockbuster and indeed the earlier tracks on the cd kinda have that Gothenburg melodic metal sound (We Are The Catalyst?), Scarecrow being one example. Sham Existence is a rocking tune but with an atmospheric Spanish guitar interlude that slows things down a bit - awesome. I hear bagpipes briefly on theHeiress To Melancholia, while the album does tend to maintain a melodic metal feel throughout, although we do see the introduction of male growls on, Shareholder Of Your Ruin. The closing atmospheric and haunting I Shall Not Die Alone is damn awesome, especially with the introduction of a choir that adds to the atmosphere. This is a good album and is a worthy addition to ones cd collection.8.5/10 (Dave)
