C'est L'extase Langoureuse - Claude Debussy
Debussy had an extraordinary feeling for poetry and an ingenious capacity for expressing the poetic essence in music. This aspect is immediately perceptible in the first songs which Debussy composed. This deep symbiosis with poetry was further improved and refined throughout his development from a more romantic to a more transparent neoclassical style. The fact that Debussy was himself a great piano virtuoso is clearly betrayed in the accompaniment of many songs. His mlodies demand extreme concentration, technical skill and refined musicianship from singer and pianist alike. The album is beautifully perfomed by Werner Van Mechelen (bass-baritone) and Marc Deckers (piano)
