Amanda Thorpe is a British musician living in New York, with two previous solo indie albums; and a former member of the Wirebirds and Bedsit Poets. Promenade is her solo debut for Bongo Beat, which released two cds by her previous group, Bedsit Poets. This album highlights guitars by Tony Scherr (Bill Frisell, Norah Jones) and other acclaimed New York musicians; Robert Jost, Don Piper, Brad Albetta and Craig Chesler. Half of the songs were co-produced with Brad Albetta (Freddy Johnston, Martha Wainwright, The McGarrigles, Teddy Thompson), and the other half, with Don Piper (Don Piper Situation, Bedsit Poets). Its a wonderful mellow pop album to fall in love with; just the right blend of 60s wistfulness and modern chilled roots introspection
