Night Of The Squares/square Root
The Squares (from Nancy, France) are one of the best French garage bands, formed in the early 90', spreading their garage/rhythm n blues sound deeply rooted in the Medway sound scene. They issued 5 singles and 5 Lp's, were one of the first bands to get in the Toe Rag Studio (London) with Liam Watson back in the days, along with the Kaisers, the Flaming Stars, The Gloomies, The Neanderthals.... Ollie was also the drummer for the Headcoats in 1990. They split in 1995, did some cool other projects like Thundercrack and Mr Zero 2025 was the time for a reunion, they did a handful of furious gigs (Wild Weekend in Mallorca, Nancy, opening for the Masonics in Paris in 2026). And the big news here is that we're thrilled to announce this perfect double vinyl, one called "Night Of The Squares" gathering all the singles they did then, and the other "Square Roots", 15 unissued covers engineered in their studio extra-time at Toe Rag between 1991 and 1995, paying their dues to their heroes Chuck Berry, Link Wray, Seeds, Bo Diddley, Milkshakes, Kinks and many others. Double Lp, mastered by Tim Warren, illustrated inner sleeves with bio and rare pictures.
