The Quiet Room
This is the debut album of The Quiet Room. The band makes roots music from a wide view and with a distinctive range of influences. The sound and the songs of The Quiet Room are heavy influenced by the American roots music of Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams and The Walkabouts, but even so by the British folkrock of Richard Thompson, the Celtic soul of Jackie Leven, the dark city romanticism of Lou Reed and contemporary artists like Bill Callahan and Wilco. Characteristic for the warm and open bandsound are the varying lead vocals, the passionate harmony singing and the tasteful, dynamic musical accompaniment, sometimes subdued and other times powerful. The music of The Quiet Room is always melodic with an often moving, dark undertone. The lyrics often arise from personal observations, or are inspired by movies and literature. Not exactly light-footed entertainment: The Quiet Room makes heartfelt music for adult listeners.
