May 2022. Poltrock plays a random sequence of notes on a forgotten and detuned upright piano in a remote hotel in Aulus-Les-Bains in the French Pyrenees . The muffled sound of the old Yamaha sparks a creative burst of new compositions.. Poltrock explores his horizons in that godforsaken place. He decides to record his four pianos, crudely and honestly, and then edit them with tape effects, cassette loops and old, analogue effects devices. The melodies are intimate and compelling, the sound is confrontational and intense. Enter the Sun*Sun*Sun String Orchestra, lifelong friends and collaborators with the likes of Einstnde Neubauten, John Cale, Belle & Sebastian and Cinematic Orchestra. Perfect traveling companions to translate Poltrocks whispering and intimate string compositions to tape and to create a symbiotic pairing of struck and bowed string instruments. Five years after the acclaimed trilogy Mutes, Moods & Machines, Poltrock releases the diptych Aulus I (May 2023) & Aulus II (November 2023).
