Parkpunk
Die Fetten Haare Sind Vorbei! (white)
Who would ever come up with the absurd idea that a band calling itself PARKPUNK might not actually be a bunch of dullards, but instead plays genuinely gripping German punk that's both classically rooted and thoroughly contemporary? Of courseno one. But it's true, and it's well worth lending them an ear. Because PARKPUNK manage, in their very own way, to hold up a mirror not only to society but also to the scene itself - through layered lyrics and smart punk rock - while still keeping people in a beer-soaked party mood. They don't reinvent German punk, nor do they cling closely to any particular role models. PARKPUNK simply let themselves drift, don't give a damn about frills like guitar solos, and are more than happy to show their colors - especially against Nazis. As they've grown older, their lyrics have become more politically concrete, but they've never lost their love for classic sing-along anthems or quirky personal anecdotes. In the end, the music as a whole has so much charm that you can only love it or hate it. Just like PARKPUNK themselves: a pun of a name, as subtle as a guardrail!
