Re-issue of the recording made in 199 by bass-baritone Werner Van Mechelen and pianist Jozef De Beenhouwer of the songs and piano music of Belgian composer Lodewijk Mortelmans (1868-1952). The album contains 23 of the over 80 songs Mortelmans composed and thus gives a great insight in his abilities of making romantic songs. Most of the songs include the poetry of Guido Gezelle but also poetry of Joannes Reddingius, Afred De Geest & Pol De Mont are included.
