Leka, Olso -& Peter Caelen-
Reminiscence
On the occasion of the centenary of the end of World War I, cellist Olsi Leka, pianist Peter Caelen and photographer Frdric Pauwels created a unique commemorative albums that brings together classical music, contemporary photography and writings of soldiers and their loved ones during the war. The recording was made in April 2018 in the Great Hall of the Royal Conservatory in Brussels that reflects the authentic sound range of the instruments and the acoustics of the hall. No technological or other interventions have been applied to process the end result. The photos of the book are by Frederic Pauwels, who traveled 700 kilometers from the Western front line, starting in Nieuwpoort (Belgium) and ending in the French Vosges. He shows the scars that the war left behind in the landscape he traversed. He visited trenches, many monuments and also "villages that died for France"; polluted ghost towns where life was no longer possible after the war. The project does not represent a specific ideology or identity. It wants to unite the listeners through its message of peace
