The recording project [SUONO] Con[TEMPO]raneo was conceived as a collaboration between the Composition and Percussion Schools of the Conservatory of Vibo Valentia. The interaction between composers and young percussionists has resulted in an exemplary model of interdisciplinarity in higher musical education. The theme of Time, a central focus of artistic reflection across eras, plays a crucial role in this collection: from the tension evoked by the Shepard tone in Sassones Unsolved, to the subtle minimalism of Arenas Contemporary Times and Talesas Re-percussion. Time is transformed into play in Scaramuzzinos Scherzo a tre, into light and color in Mirendas Christmas Tree Lights, generating a polyrhythmic universe. Musical gesture becomes discourse in Messineses Praeludium in D, while the continuous interplay of voices in Mandaradonis Studio reveals an ironic and captivating character. Finally, the perception of loves dilated time is crystallized in Mogrovejos Circles V, where a metatemporal melody evokes the notion of an infinite and absolute moment.
