Rare Italian Chamber Music For Flute And Piano
This album reconstructs a lineage of Italian music for flute, spanning almost a century between song, form and modernity. Busoni is its hinge: the late Divertimento op. 52 BV 285, heard in Kurt Weill's piano reduction, combines French clarity with constructive rigour, while the intimate Albumblatt in E minor and youthful Duo op. 43 reveal other phases of his art. Alessandro Longo's Suite op. 68 carries the measure of the Neapolitan school/ Mario Pilati's Sonata op. 38 projects that inheritance into a European, neoclassical horizon. Adriano Lincetto's Sonatina adds concision, irony and rhythmic mobility. An alternative history of the Italian flute emerges, in which the piano acts as structure, orchestral memory and equal interlocutor within a chamber discourse of rare nobility.
