Some Great Constructions
It's been a full 22 years since Gerrit Thomas released the last album with his FICTIONAL project. Most recently, he featured Jason Bainbridge as lead vocalist, but sometimes even on the vocals himself. Now, on October 16, 2025, the third album will be released, featuring a total of eleven songs, performed by seven different guest singers. The album is called "SOME GREAT CONSTRUCTIONS" and is intended as a homage to its creator's musical roots. Influenced by Depeche Mode albums such as "A Broken Frame", "Construction Time Again", and "Some Great Reward", this association is palpably evident throughout the entire eleven tracks, without neglecting Thomas's own signature. With Christian Schottstädt (Forced to Mode, Forced Movement, etc.), Thomas has secured his most desired singer for four tracks. Three of them have already been released as singles ("Your Whisper", "Nightfall" and "My Tears Will Fall"). It's been widely known, at least since the success of his DM cover band FORCED TO MODE, that Schottstädt's voice sounds strikingly similar to Gahan of the 90s. So it was clear that he had to be the first choice for this album project. But all the other guest vocalists also delivered at the highest level! David Erdmann (digital Energy, Binokular) was brought on board for two songs, along with Patrik Hansson (Vanguard, Uncreated), Nils Upahl (Beyond Obsession), Nicky Schulschenk (Mondträume, N-Frequency), and his brother Rocco (N-Frequency, Binokular), all of whom fit perfectly into their respective songs. The biggest surprise might be the song "Faster". For this track, Thomas was actually able to reactivate P-O Svensson of COLONY 5, whose vocals here pick up where they left off on the last C5 album, "Buried Again" (2007), as if he'd never taken a break!
