Ex-breathers
Past Tense
Ex-Breathers are a three-piece band from Tallahassee, Florida who are no strangers to the DIY eithic. They collectively ran a performance space in their hometown while honing their chops in a variety of other bands just figuring things out as they went along. When they formed the band they began recording their own music and eventually self-releasing their first LP "Collision". They then sought out the assistance of other labels to join in on a 4-way split 12" record with other bands they had curated and Hex Records answered the call, co-releasing it with the band and other parties. From there they set out to write and record "Paste Tense" between numerous tours. Once again, Hex Records joined in the effort to release the record, this time with the assistance of indie move-maker Exploding In Sound. While Hex Records has often released music leaning more towards noise rock and hardcore, EIS Records associates more with eclectic and hyper indie bands. Fortunately, Ex-Breathers is a perfect fit between what both labels are known for. Ex-Breathers easily shift from moments of thrashy hardcore abandon to energetic early Fugazi freak-outs and Mission Of Burma-styled moments of creative melody and odd time signatures. Their new LP combines all these elements effortlessly into a fast and frenzied ride that is sure to please fans of creative and aggressive music.
