Baroque Flowers - Floreal Dialogues Of Affetti In 17th- And 18th-centc
Baroque Flowers embodies a project in which music and painting answer one another through the poetics of Baudelaires Correspondances. Works by Marais, Kapsperger, Boismortier, Marcello, de Vise and Forqueray, for bass viol and theorbo, converse with flowers in still lifes by Zurbaran, Caravaggio, Caffi, and Ruysch. Each piece encounters a floral emblem reflecting its affetto, from serenity to vanity, from desire to memory. In five thematic sections, the programme rejects a monographic path and reunites sound, colour, and symbol within a single contemplative experience. The bass-viol arrangements of Kapsperger and Marcello further broaden the historical horizon of an innovative design in which Baroque beauty reveals, within its own splendour, an acute consciousness of time and transience.
