Dahlmanns, The

Leatherboys/ I'll Never Take The Place Of Your Man

Leatherboys sees Moss, Norway's premier popular music combo takes a darker direction than perhaps you're used to. They've delivered a song that summons the spirit of Detroit, casting a TV eye down on Devil Gate Drive and sneaking in a nod to Motor City son of a preacher man, Vincent Furnier into the bargain. Line says "the lyrics are inspired by the images of Finland's Touko Laaksonen. It's about a "Tom of Finland" type character meeting up with his gang to attend shows at Max's Kansas City in New York". The flip Dahls up Prince's "I'll Never Take The Place Of Your Man" that further fuels the conspiracy theory that PRN was more than inspired by The Dictators Loyola. Nothing is impossible in these absurd times. Line explains, "In my early teens, around the time of the release of his "Sign O' The Times" album I was obsessed with Prince. I never cared much for the over-the-top, experimental funk stuff but I liked "Controversy" and "Dirty Mind", the latter includes another pop gem, "When You were Mine". "Dirty Mind" was released on October 8th 1980, Johnny Ramone's birthday and also mine. Such coincidence in life makes me happy". Andre added, "the upcoming album is a reflection of what we've listened to since we were teenagers right up until now, hence the title of Life in Reverse. Those expecting more of the same as our previous records may turn up their noses. We've drawn inspiration from music that doesn't broadly conform to being power pop". I'll Never Take The Place Of Your Man is exclusive to the 45.
