Coal Porters
How Dark This Earth Will Shine
This is where the Sid Griffin went after the Long Ryders disbanded, he left Los Angeles, moved to London, and unpacked his acoustic guitar and his mandolin and got down to business. Featuring four of Sids strongest ever songs, truly stupendous covers of the Undertones "Teenage Kicks" and Guy Clarks classic "New Cut Road" - this is a release not unlike Chatham County Line or The Old Crow Medicine Show. Featuring guest appearances by Sids old pal Peter Case and one by Amy Rigby (now married to Wreckless Eric!) this music contains hope, heartache and happiness and is the product of a two year bout of touring, touring and more touring. Also contains the first bluegrass version ever of Dylans "Idiot Wind". What's not to like?
