Jorge Bosso: Brothers

This album features what composer Jorge Bosso defines as a "celebration of tradition", conceived in Shostakovichs terms: "By building bridges into the future we must take care not to burn the bridges connecting todays culture to its immortal past". The main work is a reinterpretation of Bachs Second Partita for unaccompanied violin, here played by Dora Schwarzberg, and with the participation of a choir singing lyrics from the Minnesnger tradition; other works pay homage to the Van Gogh brothers (hence the albums title) and to other masterpieces of literature, music, and the visual arts.
