Corelli: Ajuste A La Flute Traversiere
On January 1, 1700, Arcangelo Corellis twelve sonatas for violin and basso continuo, Op. 5, were published in Rome. This collection quickly became a stylistic and pedagogical model throughout Europe. By the end of the century, it had seen 36 editions and 20 transcriptions for other instruments. Among these is a transcription published in Paris around 1738, containing the first six sonatas of Op. 5, transcribed by an anonymous arranger for transverse flute and basso continuo. These that are the object of this album. The recording of these sonatas is the culmination of a long period of study dedicated to the eighteenth-century Italian flute repertoire and the historical practice of transcription, particularly the adaptation of music originally composed for the violin; a long work by the Duo Alter Ego, with Eleonora Biscevic and Arianna Radaelli.
