Bazoomis

White Washed Kids

Not a name that that is on everyones lips, and new name to most PUNK collectors unless you were on the Punk scene back in 1977. This band were the REAL deal... They lived on the edge like everyday was their last day! You could even describe them as MAD! So what does Bazoomis mean? Well, its a RUSSIAN word that translates as MADNESS! They played all the usual Punk haunts, ROXY CLUB, VORTEX, RONNIE SCOTTS, MARQUEE, THE BRECKNOCK etc The band first got together after one of their best mates Keith Levene persuaded them to come and watch his band at the Screen On Green on Sunday 29 August 1976. As history would have it, this gig has become part of Punk folklore as it Featured The Sex Pistols, The Clash & The Buzzcocks. The audience was made up of future Punk musicians even though they didnt know it at the time but the seed was sowed! So BAZOOMIS were formed. The band got a flat on the Kings Road above "Scissors" where they spent many hours amusing them selves by chucking things out of the window at passing Teddy Boys. This collection of songs are all studio recordings and have been salvaged from many old cassettes from under their bed and the back of Chester draws. They are fast, furious and in yer face! After the band split in 1978, they drafted in Roz to take over vocal duties. She had previous worked at Virgin Records and it was her voice that was over dubbed on the Sex Pistols Some Product LP. As times were changing, the band wanted a new name and change of direction.. THE EXPRESSOS were born... But that is another story!
