Bolognese composer Giuseppe A. V. Aldrovandini is little known today, also due to his short life, but he was a first-rate figure in his time. Aldrovandini's trio sonatas have a simplicity of form, strongly anchored to the formal structure of the church sonata, and a certain naivety to the solutions of the development of the chosen themes. These delightful works, which are the instrumental counterpart to Aldrovandinis operatic output, are recorded here in world premiere. Lorenzo Colitto, who conducts the ensemble, has a worldwide reputation as one of the finest performers of early and Baroque music and cooperates here with leading soloists such as Lisa Kawata Ferguson, Marcello Scandelli, Joao Janeiro, Chiara Tiboni and Francesco Romano.
