Fool Moon
Theres no way around it. Widowers Fool Moon is a break-up record. Its the full-length debut that took songwriter Kevin Large four years to conjure out. It stems from heartbreak, the one tried and true remedy for many a writers block. Great records rarely require innovation. Rather, they depend on execution and a singular perspective. This is Kevin Larges record. While there are plenty of themes and emotions that will resonate universally, these are songs that only he could have written. Following 2009s promising self-titled EP, Large continued to play Seattle as Widower, but struggled to write much new material. During that time, Large also fronted Petty Party, the Tom Petty cover band that Sound On The Sound called "one of Seattles best live bands." Through Petty Party and Widowers continued presence in the Seattle music scene, he was slowly able to build a band of his favorite Seattle players. Brian Wright, Jeff Fielder (Sera Cahoone), Ty Bailie (Mudhoney, Rosie Thomas), William Moore and vocalist Kaylee Cole all expressed the desire to play with him as soon as he was ready.
