Vasas flora och fauna is a trio from the Swedish speaking parts of Ostrobothnia in Finland. Their work represents a new wave of Finland-Swedish music, in which the provincial elements of the Finnish-Swedish culture and language isnt considered something that needs to be camouflaged or treated merely as material for comedy. According to Vasas flora och fauna, everyday life and everyday language has its place in pop culture regardless of where you come from. The group has had most success outside of Finland, namely in neighbouring Sweden, where their debut record "Slakt med Lotta Svard" has become a modern classic. Their second album, "Veneziansk afton" was released in October. "Strandgut" is a collection of tracks from these albums, translated into German.
