Through A Faraway Window
Once upon a time, in the post-New Wave power pop eighties, a Seattle songwriter named Jimmy Silva made his way to the Bay-area where his hook-heavy tunes would soon inspire every jangly combo on the West Coast. Critics darlings The Young Fresh Fellows even recorded some of Silvas nuggets. In turn, YFFs Scott McCaughey contributed songs to Silvas solo recordings before Silvas untimely death at 42 in 1994. McCaughey went on to work with REM and to form the Minus 5, but he never forgot his friends songs. Neither did SteadyBoy Records owner and Texas power popper, Freddie Steady Krc, who has gathered Silvas fans and friends for a collection includes Freddie Steady, Scott McCaughey, The Beau Brummels Sal Valentino, The Posies Jon Auer, Roy Loney, John Wesley Harding and other Silva admirers.
