Jazz In Der Ddr
Publishing this CD box set was a matter close to my heart. I grew up with this music become. It was about making discoveries; about diversity, encounters and above all to make first releases sound. Finding the recording of the Synopsis/Zentralquartett concert from October 1975 is a stroke of luck (CD 1). It is the first surviving recording of this important quartet with Klaus Koch (bass), instead of Conny Bauer (trombone). With the wonderful concert by Andreas Altenfelder Quintett from 1980 closes a gap in the jazz releases (CD 2). And that's it the diversity of the numerous encounters between GDR jazz musicians and jazz musicians from all over the world, I had to limit myself to a selection for one CD. And for the first time on a recording Evidence, musicians who belonged to the next generation (all CD 3 encounters). Without the support of jazzwerkstatt and Ulli Blobel as well as the uncomplicated cooperation with Jazzwerkstatt und Ulli Blobel this box would have been unthinkable for the German Broadcasting Archive.
