Rockin' & Boppin' With Dj Rudy
Stag-O-Lee is proud to continue the DJ Set series with a compilation from cult DJ Mr. Rudy. DJ Rudy blew us away at the Goezot Festival in Belgium in September 2021 with his selection of dancefloor bangers. And when he sent us the list of festivals and weekenders he's played at, we were even more impressed. So we invited him to put together volume 7 of the DJ series on Stag-O-Lee. Liner Notes: When I first heard DJ Rudy play I could immediately feel the movement on the dance floor and see the excitement among the dancers. As the night progressed, being a DJ myself, I kept a close eye on the clearly popular and friendly guy who provided the tunes - many of which (to my delight) I had never heard before, who filled the dance floor and who dancers into ecstasy. Finally, I thought, here's a DJ who knows what the dancers want, isn't afraid to play a really wide mix of rock genres (from rockabilly and R'n'B to early '60s garage bands from Belgium !). DJ Rudy isn't someone trying to impress with a little box of ultra-rare 45s... he wasn't in the DJ booth to please himself, he was there to please the crowd and give them what they wanted. Since then Rudy has played many sets for me at Rockabilly Rave and is a regular DJ on the international scene. And the best thing about meeting him all those years ago is that he's one of the nicest, warmest, most passionate guys the scene has. Always willing to help, always with a big smile and a kind word and always something positive to contribute. This album is a great taste of what Rudy has brought to the scene. It proves that rock tunes can be different and varied, but if you pick the right ones, it's always a rock party! Jerry Chatabox October 2022.
