Van Zandt, Townes
Down Home Music: Live
It's a well known fact that Townes Van Zandt was an inconsistent live performer, but when he was on, there was nothing more heartbreaking and raw, and on this night in 1985, he sure as hell was on. His weary and rugged voice was in top form and he's accompanied with subtlety and class by a second guitarist, and woodwind player only. The songs shine and man, what songs, "Pancho and Lefty", "To Live Is To Fly", "Don't You Take It Too Bad" and on and on. A stellar live recording from one of the greatest all-time songwriters.
