The blues in Germany has a large audience and draws equally on the artists who represent it. Two flourishing names in the scene are those of the Westphalian blues artists Michael van Merwyk and Bad Temper Joe. The two giants, MvM is 2 m tall, BTJ at least 1.95 m tall, have made a name for themselves over the years as independent personalities and musicians. The older van Merwyk will celebrate his 40th stage anniversary in 2024, the younger Joe 10 years since the release of his first album in the same year. Michael van Merwyk shaped Bad Temper Joe's musical career from the very beginning and was always at his side as a mentor and supporter. With "Songs 'n' Slide" they are now releasing their first album together on the Osnabrrecord label Timezone. As could not be more fitting for the raw and stirring acoustic blues of the two, the long player is only being released on 12" vinyl. So it's time to get yourself a drink, put on the record, sit down, lean back and listen to the incomparable sounds of the two musicians. That's how to enjoy music.
