Tiersen, Yann
Le Phare/avant La Chute
To celebrate 30 years of Ici d'Ailleurs, the label is pairing two records from its early years with Yann Tiersen in a bundle limited to 300 copies. Le Phare (1998) is the album that took Tiersen to a much wider audience. "Monochrome", sung by Dominique A, became a radio hit in France, and shortly after Jean-Pierre Jeunet came across his music, which led to the Amélie soundtrack. Claire Pichet and Dominique A both sing on the record. Avant la Chute was put together in 1997 as a promo compilation for music industry people, ahead of Le Phare. Catalogued IDA 000, it stayed in very few hands until its first vinyl release. Next to tracks from the first three albums, it includes two pieces that appear on none of his albums: "Avant qu'ils n'arrivent", taken from an Ici d'Ailleurs compilation, and "La Vie rêvée", written for Erick Zonca's film La Vie rêvée des anges. The two records come together in a back-to-back sleeve with a dedicated sticker.
