Thrower, Stephen
Soundtracks 1970-2014
Stephen Thrower is a British musician, composer and author. He made contact with Throbbing Gristle by letter in 1979 and followed up his interest in the particular contribution of Peter Christopherson after learning that he and John Balance had left Psychic TV to found their own group, Coil. An exchange of letters exposed many shared interests and in 1984 a meeting was arranged. Following this, he was invited to join them in the studio to record tracks for the first Coil album, Scatology. Stephen became a full-time member of the group until his departure in 1992. Stephen's current music project is Cyclobe, with Ossian Brown (another former Coil member). Their albums, Luminous Darkness, The Visitors, Wounded Galaxies Tap At The Window and Sulphur-Tarot-Garden were released on the UK based record label Phantomcode. Cyclobe also contributed to a remix project by Nurse With Wound, resulting in a collaborative album. Stephen also performs with the groups UnicaZürn and The Amal Gamal Ensemble. This album is his first release as a solo musician.
